What is the principle of gray balance from China printers?

Time: 2021-06-23 Hits: 24

Many book printers in china who are engaged in color reproduction may not know much about gray balance. Gray balance refers to the density values of green, fine and yellow required to produce neutral gray. If these values are too high or too low, the image at the end will shift. The overall concept is: green, grade, yellow, black four color separations in each of the basic relationship is called gray balance.

According to the theory, if two colors are complementary to each other, then the two colors will become neutral after mixing in an appropriate proportion, which shows that when two colors complement each other, their mixing also has a problem of balance. Otherwise, it will not appear neutral gray. But it is not the balance of three primary colors, but the balance of two complementary colors in quantity. In fact, it is the basis of all gray balance that the two complementary colors are transformed into neutral gray after appropriate mixing. The gray balance of the three primary colors is also the method of color synthesis. Finally, they are summed up as the balance of complementary colors.

Color separation is based on the relationship among yellow, magenta and cyan color separations which can produce neutral gray. The reproduction of various colors by color separations is limited by the gray balance. The more information the color separator of printers in China has to grasp about the live parts to be copied, such as ink, printing material, printing test, etc., the smoother the color separation will be. However, if the neutral gray balance of the color separator is not well grasped, the image will not look good.
